How to Prepare for a US Client Interview

The client round is different from a vendor screen. Here's what interviewers are really checking for.

Interviews

By the time you reach the client round, the vendor has already confirmed you have the basic skills. The client wants to know three things: can you do this specific job, will you communicate clearly with the team, and will you need hand-holding.

What to prepare

Pick two projects you can explain end to end: the problem, your part, the hard decisions, and the result. Re-read the job description and be ready with an example for each major requirement. Practice explaining a technical decision to someone non-technical. Prepare two thoughtful questions about the team and how they work.

Tell us what you're working on.

A twenty-minute call is usually enough to know whether we can help. If we can't, we'll say so and point you somewhere that can.
